Abstract

The work presented provides some reflections on the world of work and its behavior in contemporary Cuban society in the 21st century. The forms of non-state management since 2011, together with the state sector of economy and other forms of property, form a new panorama in terms of employment, wages and income policy. The objective of the work is to reflect on self-employment, as a new type of employment, considering their behavior, trends and challenges. As a result, it is argued that this type of employment has occupied a fundamental space within the forms of management and production and, has contributed significantly, to the occupation and obtaining of income of a large part of the citizens, as part of the transformations that the updating of the economic and social development model supports in recent years.
